I, Chief Hon David Chinedu Omereji, the Emolga Chairman, thank the good people of Emohua Local Government Area for electing me as their Chairman without any gun shut, bloodshed, rigging, and denying people of their civic responsibility.
It is on record that this election was conducted without the presence of the police, whose primary duty is to maintain law and order, yet it has been adjudged as the most free, fair, and peaceful election in the anal of our history including the June 12 1993 presidential election.
Let me thank God for taking charge of the day, and may his name alone be praised. Let me also thank the Executive Governor of Rivers State, HE Sir Sim Fubara, for providing the enabling environment and allowing for a free and fair contest, despite the use of Federal Might by the enemies of the state to stop the election and attempted to truncate democracy. Your Excellency, Sir, your boldness and courage to protect the Government of Rivers State, speaks volumes, and history will never forget your positive stand.

Let me also thank the members and leadership of my party, the Action People’s Party, for finding me worthy to fly their flag as their chairmanship candidate. I am, indeed, very grateful and promise to always stand firm and be loyal to the party. For my Simplified Movement brothers and sisters, I say thank you all. I am the most happiest man for identifying with you. Without your support for the governor and the government of Rivers State, this Local Government Election would not have been a reality.
Let me further congratulate all other candidates of other political parties who contested this election because the victory is not just mine, but for all and democracy. I am only the announced winner because one person will definitely emerge, but see it not as mine, but for all of us. I am appealing for all of you to join hands with me to move our dear Emolga forward. Remember, it is not about me, but Emolga first. I will always consult you before making decisions on how to run our administration.
The doggedness and resilience of the entire Rivers people who took the bull by the horns to make this day a reality has allay my fear and strengthened my fate, that truly, power reside with the people and not the few in authority. I say thank you all.
May God bless you all.
Chief Hon David Chinedu Omereji,
Chairman Emolga
